Halves

Last night at Cub Scouts we played some competitive games, Thumb Wars, Charades and Arm Wrestling. I was totally amazed because Aaron won every single arm wrestling match, except for the very last. By that time he'd wrestled like 15 times in a row and his arm was exhausted. Aaron had already beaten the kid who won twice before, but his arm was all pooped out. When the other kid won the last match he started yelling.. "I can't believe it! I beat AARON! He's like the strongest kid there is!" All the other boys were saying, "Yay! Someone finally beat Aaron!" Aaron tells me that this didn't really bother him because by the time it happened he was just TIRED.

Driving to pick up Emma last night Hannah got worried that I didn't know where I was going. "Are you sure this is the way?", she asked me. "I'm positive", I replied. Hannah giggled and said, "Hi Positive".
Later while we were sitting on the couch she said, "Mom, when I have my birthday I want to go to China." When I asked her why she replied, "So I can see all the dragons!"

Hannah has informed me that she is half woman, half tiger and half fish. lol, I would like to remind everyone that when Aaron was her age he told me that he was half Arizona kid, half American and half reptile. I guess you can tell they're related, heeheehee.

At Lupi's

Today I got an email from Lupi with a couple of things the kids have said while they've been with her...

Emma:  My Dad loves country music. One of the songs says, "She thinks my tractors sexy." I keep asking him why a tractor is sexy, but he doesn't ever know.

Lupi showed Hannah a picture of herself in our hot tub...

Hannah:  Look how cute I am.

:) That's my girls!

Botanical Garden

All three big kids are spending the week at Lupi and Boompa's house. Things are much quieter at home, that's for sure. Today we took Clara and Tyler, a little boy I watch during the week, and went to the Tucson Botanical Garden to see the Butterfly Exhibit.

Yay! Here we are getting ready to go in!

All the butterflies were in a special green house. It was super hot and humid inside, but there were butterflies everywhere. Tons of them on the plants and fluttering around in the air.

Jared really liked all the flowers in the greenhouse. Especially this purple orchid.

Clara kept trying to grab the butterflies.

This was one of my favorites. It was huge! And as you can see so gorgeous. My very favorite were these beautiful blue Amazonian's, but none of them would land and I couldn't get a picture.

Here are the kids checking out the big white butterfly getting a drink from the creek.

After seeing the butterflies we walked around to see the rest of the gardens.

Here's Daddy taking a rest.

They had a miniature train set running through a part of the gardens. Tyler really got a kick out of that.

Tyler Butterfly

This was a carnivorous plant terrarium. Inside it was full of pitcher plants.

This is an Indian Grinding Stone. They had corn out and the kids got to try grinding it up with the stones.

You can't tell from the picture that this was a little waterfall.

Clara cutie

As you can tell, she likes to climb up and sit on benches.

Grrrr! A big lizard! Clara was so excited by this guy, maybe she thought it was real.

Side note... We got a hot tub! We've all been having a blast playing in the water. Here's Hannah taking a dip.

Bye for now!

Pinewood Derby!

Here is Aaron with his awesome and amazing pinewood derby car! Last year his poor car was pretty slow and he was dead last in all the races :( Afterwards he told me that is was the worst day of his entire life. But this year his car did really well. He came in 4th place overall out of 20 boys. Not too shabby!

Don't think you can see from the picture, but the certificate says that his car won the "Most Reptile Like" award.  He was so excited to have a car that actually won some races this time!

On a side note... look at our beautiful new living room! Since Meema and Peepa got new couches we got to keep their old ones. Mom found a super cool rug at Costco to cover up our stained old carpet and together they look awesome.  (Just pretend you can't see Emma's purple blanket and all the clothes on the floor ;)

Here are our littlest girls sitting on the new couch. (Hannah is making a crabby face because she was mad that I made her sit next to Clara for the picture.)

* Hannah has informed me that her name is no longer Hannah Bean. From now on she wants the family to call her...  Hannah Banana Pecking Bird!
(She say's it's because the new name is so funny and cute. Ummm?)
