Conversation

So this is word for word (cause I'm typing as they speak) the conversation my children (Aaron and Emma) are having as they sit at the table and do their homework.

Emma: It's not fair, Aaron you got more juice than me.

Aaron: No I didn't, it's the same.

Emma: Yes, because you got juice all the way to the top and then a little more and I only got juice half way two times.

Aaron: Emma if you keep drinking juice and don't stop then it will fill you up and you'll just get fatter and fatter until you explode.

Emma: No, because people don't explode! (In a Duh! voice)

Aaron: They do if they have a bomb inside them.

Emma: Mom! Aaron's teasing me!

Aaron: Mom, Emma won't leave me alone!

(At which point I tell them to be quiet and do their homework)

Emma: Mom, what's for dinner?

Me: Mexican Rice casserole.
(This is brown rice, hamburger, taco seasoning and usually a large can of cream of chicken soup all mixed up with cheese on top. But this time I've gotten creative in an attempt to sneak more veggies into our diet. So instead of the cream of chicken I cooked an onion, celery, carrots and butternut squash in chicken broth this afternoon and then pureed it until smooth, and then dumped that in.)

Aaron and Emma: Yea! (Last night they wouldn't eat because I made spaghetti with squash in the sauce.)

Aaron actually stood up and came to give me a hug for fixing something he thinks is veggie free. Moooahahahahahah.

Aaron: Wait, does it have any mushrooms in it?

I (honestly) said, "No." :)

How big a mess?

On the way home from the store today Emma kept picking at her brother. She'd bug him, he'd smack her, she'd bug him again. It was driving me crazy. Finally I said, "Emma, if I have to tell you one more time to leave your brother alone then when we get home I am going to make you clean up Aaron's whole room!". It got quiet so I snuck a glance in the rear view mirror. Emma was keeping her hands to herself but she kept glaring at her brother. I saw her give him one huge stink eye look and then she said, "Mom, how big a mess is Aaron's room?".

Chatter Box

Posted this so you all could see what a little chatter box our Clara has become. She literally talks all day long. It drives her Daddy crazy when we're trying to watch movies because she's so loud! But we love it!

Rough Morning

Emma was having a rough morning. The object was for her to get her room all cleaned up, the execution of this was proving to be a bit hard. It seemed like every 5min she was out of her room messing with something. When I walked into the living room and found her watching a movie on the computer, that was the last straw. "Emma!", I said, "Get in your room and you are not coming out until it is clean!". Emma glared at me and said, "Fine." After which she slammed the keyboard back into the computer hard. "That's it", I said, "You are going to clean up the whole room by yourself, Hannah doesn't have to help." I followed Em as she marched to her room and closed the door behind her, after which I could hear her saying "I Hate You!". I took a step away from the door and took a deep breath trying to calm down. As I was standing there Aaron popped his head out of his room and said, "You'd think she would learn but she never does. Don't worry Mom, she drives me crazy too."

Precious Girls

Last week I was helping Aaron take out the kitchen garbage. I went out into the garage with him to hold open the garbage can. I left Clara on the floor in her bouncy seat and Hannah sitting on the couch. When I came back into the living room I discovered that Hannah had tried to throw her baby sister away! The bottom of the trash can was laying next to Clara, like Hannah had tried to pick it up but couldn't, and Clara was completely covered up by the trash can lid. Poor Clara! I guess Hannah still isn't too excited to have her around. ;)

Tonight when it was time for all of the kids to go to bed I was sitting at the computer holding the baby. Emma came up to give me a goodnight hug. She put one arm around my neck and one arm around Clara's. Then she hugged us tight and said, "Goodnight my precious girls." I love it!

Kitty

I was in my room organizing my file cabinet for awhile this morning while the baby slept. Aaron, Emma and Hannah were in the living room watching cartoons. When I came out to check on them Emma had gotten out the markers and was making letters for everyone. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed that Hannah was sitting at the computer holding the green marker with no lid on and there was no paper in sight. "Hannah?", I said. She turned around and her face was COVERED in green. "Bean! Why did you color all over your face?". She rolled her eyes at me and said, "I was trying to be like a kitty!".
