Stop Talking

Yesterday for FHE our family was talking about phone manners or how to be polite on the phone. We got Emma's play phone out and I was pretending to call each kid so that they could practice. Emma was the first one to go...

Mom: Ring, ring.
Emma: Hello, may I ask who's speaking pleas?
Mom: This is Shirley, is your mom available?

At this point Emma paused for a minute as if trying to decide what to say. Finally she said in her sweetest and most polite voice...

Emma: What does available mean?

We were sitting in sacrament meeting on Sunday and Hannah was getting bored. She was sitting on my lap and fidgeting around. I kept having to tell her to hold still. Finally she'd had enough and in exasperation said, "Mom, when is this guy gonna stop talking!?"

Good House

The kids have one of their friends over today to play. They've been running around outside, playing with toys, and just having fun. They asked if they could watch a movie so I said sure, they could go pick one out. As they were picking out what they wanted to watch I heard Emma say to the friend..."I like our house, don't we have a good house."
:) This just makes me happy.

New Hand

We got to go to Peter Piper Pizza for Emma's birthday last weekend. We had so much fun and Emma must have still had it on the brain because when she came home yesterday and I asked what she had done at school that day she replied, "Well we didn't get to go to the library so we got to watch a movie instead. It was Peter Piper Pan.".

Daddy had taken Emma and Hannah into the book store to look around while Aaron stayed in the car with me while I fed the baby. When I was finished we were climbing out of the van and Aaron was being silly and singing,
"I'm so faaancccy, faaaancccy. I'm so faaancccy, faaancccy.", in a funny voice. He was being pretty loud and just as he hopped out of the van singing a couple walked by and heard him. They walked away snickering and Aaron was SO embarrassed. He and Mom had a good laugh over that one.

Hannah and I ran into the grocery store just to buy a few things we had run out of. On the way  back out to the store I was carrying the baby in her car seat in one hand, and needed to hold Hannah's had with the other, so I asked Hannah to hold the grocery bag for me. She asked, "How come I have to hold it?" I answered, "Well I need your help because I don't have anymore hands to carry it.". Hannah rolled her eyes at me and said, "Mom! Just buy a new hand!". Oh if only it were that easy.

Like Men!

On Friday after I picked up the kids from school I was telling Aaron that he had to hurry and meet his friend on the computer because at 3:30 he was going over to a different friends house to play. "Man", he said, "I've got a busy schedule!". I replied, "Just wait till you're a grownup." Aaron thought about that for a minute and then said,"Oh yea, then I won't get to do anything but work all day!".

I was talking to the kids about our lineage. I was telling them that we were made up of lots of different nationalities, we even had some American Indian in us. Emma said, "Wow, really?". Aaron replied, "Yea, but I have way more Indian in me than you because I'm wild and crazy and I have darker skin."

It was time for school and we all rushed out to the car. As I pulled out of the driveway I noticed that the "door open" sign was on. I quickly pulled over and asked Aaron if he could check the passenger side sliding door. He grumped a bit but got up to check it and sure enough, it wasn't closed all the way. Aaron slammed it closed hard and then turned to his sisters and said, "Come on you guys, you've got to close these doors like men!!".

Sister Whisperer

I had picked the kids up from school and was driving them home. I told them that Hannah and I had bought them a treat at the store. "Ya!", said Hannah, "Gowhas!". This of course meant donuts, which Aaron understood. "Alright, donuts!", he yelled. Then he said, "It's a good thing I can understand Hannah... I'm like the Hannah Whisperer!".

Muscle Man!!

Aaron and I were talking about what kind of cake to give Emma and Daddy for their birthday (they have the same). I told him that Emma wanted a pink princess castle cake and that she wanted to put a motorcycle on the corner for Daddy. Aaron said, "Yea, only instead of just a motorcycle, you can put Daddy holding up a motorcycle with one arm and there can be three girls sitting on it and underneath it can say MUSCLE MAN!".

Cranky Mom

Hannah and I went to go drop off the mail in the mail box today. I let Hannah carry all of the letters. She was going a bit slow because she was having a hard time balancing all of the mail. I asked her if she wanted to sit in the stroller. She replied, "No, I'm adorable.".

I was sitting at the computer finishing up some work when the baby woke up and started fussing. "Mom", Emma said, "the baby is crying". "I know", I replied, "I just have to finish this". I was trying to hurry and just get it done while Emma kept telling me that the baby was crying. Finally I said, "Em! Quit bugging me! I'll get her in a minute!". Emma frowned at me and replied, "I don't think you should be allowed to have a baby Mom, you're too cranky."
